Judy
Kaplan Publisher

Judy
Kaplan graduated
from The Ohio State University in 1971 with a Bachelor of
Science degree in the field of Economics, with a minor in
Accounting. After working several years for the distinguished
investment bank of Brown Brothers Harriman on Wall Street
in New York, Judy moved to the Chicagoland area and began
working for Motorola in Schaumburg. With her experience in
the world of finance, she and her former husband Mark, established
a residential real estate company in 1977. The company ultimately
grew into a real estate sales, construction and development
organization which built six major residential and commercial
developments and hundreds of new homes and office buildings
over a twenty year time period.

Interested
in furthering her education, Judy attended Northwestern University
for graduate study in 1994. There she earned a Master’s
Degree in Individual, Marriage and Family Therapy. Upon completion
in 1996, she established a psychotherapy practice in Barrington,
Illinois, that she still maintains today. While assisting
individuals and families with many of the same issues that
she faced herself was fulfilling, over time, Judy became frustrated
that as a single mental health professional she could only
offer assistance to one patient at a time. She yearned to
find a way to reach and assist more people, and women especially,
with the stresses life presents. With a vision and great passion
Judy was able to develop the conceptual ideas that are now
represented within the community as highly respected and well
received publications that help and empower women.
Suburban Woman Publications began as a one woman operation
with the publishing of Chicago Suburban Woman Newspaper and
has grown in 2 years to an organization of 12 people producing
2 publications, Chicago Suburban Woman and Suburban Woman
North Shore. Prior to expanding to a Chicago North Shore publication,
Judy handled all firm positions. From sales to accounting
and from distributing to editing, Judy worked hard and diligently
to create a presence in the market place for her publication.
Expanding into the Chicago North Shore market in April of
2005 enabled Judy to restructure her firm into Suburban Woman
Publications. With this, Judy was able to hire a full time
Art Director, Director of Marketing Services, Executive Administrator,
Distribution Manager, Editorial Director and highly competent
sales team.
In the coming issues and year, Suburban Woman Publications
is looking forward to continuing to further enhance the company’s
potential. From improving our web presence, to expanding readership,
to exploring new geographic markets, to offering improved
design and to streamlining services to our clients, our goal
is to continue to passionately pursue new avenues of growth,
efficiency and development.
